One Autism Dad’s Journey Towards Acceptance (S7E35)

with Special Guest Shaun Hampton, Founder Ride for Autism Awarness

JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) — Kickstands up Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Cycle Connection, 402 East 7th, for the 3rd annual Ride for Autism Awareness.

Webb City, Mo. (KOAM) - Nine Webb City schools were given communication boards by the Ride 4 Autism Awareness Not-for-Profit Organization to help students with communication difficulties to communicate while on playgrounds with both staff and other students. 

The Organization for Autism Research defines communication boards as, a form of augmentative and alternate communication that can be used in households, schools, and other community settings. Through the use of graphics and visuals, these boards can help bridge the communication gap between nonspeaking or minimally speaking individuals and their caregivers, teachers, and peers. 

JOPLIN, Mo. — One of the biggest rides of the summer season is being held Saturday, August 26. The Dale Osborne Memorial Ride 4 Autism Awareness with kickstands up at 11 a.m. leaving from Cycle Connection in Joplin, Mo. and ending north of Seneca, Mo. at Happy Jacks Tavern.
